Albert Adrià’s ingenuity, together with the sensitivity of RCR Arquitectes and NEOLITH’s technology, have joined together to create an amazing gastronomic project that is truly spectacular in terms of gastronomy, design and innovation.
A project in which NEOLITH has had the privilege of joining – being one of these key pieces – providing its technology to achieve the desired design and final appearance of the new and anticipated Haute Cuisine gastronomical project of Albert Adrià: ENIGMA.
Albert Adrià: The Gastronomic Laboratory
Catalan chef and pastry chef, and brother of the renowned chef Ferran Adrià, Albert has 3 Michelin Stars (for Tickets, Pakta and Hoja Santa), 5 Soles from the Repsol Guide (3 for Tickets, 1 for Hoja Santa and 1 for Pakta), and numerous other awards. Albert Adrià is regarded as a creative genius when it comes to designing dishes. In 2015 he was also named Best Pastry Chef in the World by the Restaurant magazine which publishes the prestigious 50 Best Restaurant list.
El Bulli, Inopia Classic Bar, Lolita Taperia, Tickets, 41º, Pakta, Bodega 1900, Niño Viejo, Hoja Santa and Heart, are the names of some of his famous restaurants. With ENIGMA, Albert now completes his proposal of avant-garde gastronomy in the Paralelo area (Barcelona) where most of his restaurants are located, in the well-known “Adrià District”.
ENIGMA is Albert Adrià’s newest gastronomic proposal that he has been working on in the latest years to create his dream.
In order to make this a reality, Albert commissioned RCR Arquitectes to completely create the restaurant and give life to a multidisciplinary space of 700 square meters.
An experimental space and a challenge for NEOLITH, as a key piece in the design and production of the entire wall cladding for each room, floorings and even countertops, kitchen hoods, and also applications such as bathrooms and bars. A design that is born from the watercolor painting done by RCR and that NEOLITH was able to solve through arduous hard work, replicating a fully customized design in the slab with connotations of colors, intensities, cuts and individual effects that are combined at the same time with the rest of the materials and decorative elements used as furniture and lighting.
For NEOLITH it has been a project with unprecedented technical complexity which has marked a before and after in the history of the company due to the fact that each of the floor slabs are different from one other and they fit together like a puzzle, in order to represent the watercolor drawing on the whole of the restaurant floor.
From here, it has been possible to create a unique and homogenous scenery in the different spaces where the diner enjoys this mysterious experience over two and a half hours, in which they travel through the different environments, savouring the mastery, creativity and genius in every dish.
Albert has a young but expert team of professionals for this adventure, lead by Oliver Peña, Cristina Losada and Marc Alvarez, who bring this unique experience to life for a maximum of 24 diners during the daily dinner service; an experience which never lacks the element of surprise, its menu being a real enigma that begins as you enter the large door located on Sepúlveda street which is accessed via a booking code.
